Othercide difficulty code#
The Seed system allows you to play and compare your progress with friends.Ī Seed is a code (a small line of digits between 6 and 7) that determines everything in a campaign: the order of missions spawned, the monsters encountered and the stats of the player's characters. To facilitate the collection of results, the challenge will be handled on Discord. The soundtrack also does a wonderful job of bringing the entire game together into a gritty, dark world, where it is up to you and The Red Mother to carry on the last spark of flame in this dying reality. The enemy and boss designs are also equally fascinating and disturbing. The monochrome world occasionally interrupted by the splatter of crimson blood and the bright red scarves of your Daughters, which also double as a dynamic HP bar, is captivating. Visually, I think Othercide may be among my top prettiest looking game. For those who find this daunting, you can opt to enable "Dream Mode", which will restore a Daughter's HP at the end of the day instead, allowing for a much more casual approach to the game, with less stress on balancing all your Daughter's HP. Those sacrificed also pass on a powerful trait to those they heal, adding another consideration to the mix. This becomes a careful balance of Daughters, managing who keeps around and who must be sacrificed to save another. And as a good amount of abilities cost a small percentage of health, even your Daughters who have never been touched by enemies will soon find themselves on their last legs. The only way to regain health to an injured Daughter is via sacrificing another Daughter of equal or higher level. Othercide's other unique trait is healing: there is none. Every time you fall is another chance to get back up, stronger than before. These can include additional damage buffs to specific enemy types, starting with higher level Daughters, or even starting a run with a previous Daughter resurrected from the dead. Whenever you finish a run, you unlock Remembrances powerful modifiers that can greatly increase your odds of survival. However, this is not the end far from it. Of course, chances are you'll soon find your Daughters defeated and the run over. This will be your saving grace, as manipulation of the timeline is critical to a successful mission, and often means the difference between life and death. Both Daughters and enemies have abilities that can either pull allies up in the timeline, or push enemies back further down. The further up the initiative you are, the sooner you act. Instead of a static turn order like other turn-based tactics games with set orders, Othercide uses a dynamic timeline where both your army of Daughters and the enemies will move up and down. Othercide's main gimmick is its Initiative timeline. A challenging turn-based tactics game that pulls no punches, but don't let that intimidate you.
